Jelly Angels
Doodles turned into Jellyfish. Jellyfish turned female. And a scene evolved. This one took a lot of trial and error and still needs some cleanup.

Penguin Borealis
I drew this for my daughter as she is doing a report on Emperor penguins and needed a cover for it. The borealis design still needs some work.

Magic Apples
Congrats to Sophie Grow for her winning concept. I had fun compositing and drawing this one tonight. If I can just keep the narrative in these coloring pages I'll be a very happy boy by the end of the year.

Trash Panda and The Pond Prince
I am enjoying the process of creating little narratives in these coloring pages. Thinking I'll do a multipage narrative soon. If anyone has any suggestions, let me know.

Daffodils
A simple design tonight. Daffodils happen to be my favorite flower. They're only around for a couple of weeks and are often the first splashes of color in spring where I live. Their petals have the delicateness of a carnation, but are as fresh and crisp as a succulent.

Squirrel Squadron
This flying squirrel is part of a sophisticated animal society that lives above and below the East Village, New York City.

The Peony People
I'm trying to adjust my compositions so that they can be more easily colored. So far my more popular designs have been the simple ones. When I draw these I fill in the shading and color in my head as I work, but I forget that others don't see things the way I do. I would like to get feedback from my followers on what they Like to color. I'm still going to create fantastical scenes, I'd just like them to be more approachable.
Tonight's coloring page was inspired from an old seed catalog ad.

Sky Kraken and The World of Tomorrow
Congratulations Kurt, here is your winning facebook contest drawing. I hope you like it.
I'm still in the process of cleaning up some of the lines as the composition took most of the time tonight.

Old Crow
I just started drawing last night, a smile I've seen before, a posture that I know from somewhere, a location I've heard about and most likely misinterpreted. And this old farmer character is the result. Still needs more definition of edges, but I'm tired.

Windy Willows
My wife saw the frog with the hat I drew a while back and asked me if it was from Wind in the Willows. That wasn't my intention, but never-the-less a good idea. So here is a re-interpretation of a scene from that story.

Kitten-fish
"Beautiful kitten-fish, sleep baby, sleep"
I liked doing this one. Its the most child-like of the coloring pages I've drawn so far, but also one of the most complete. I'll have to start vectorizing some of these soon.

Dinomow
I'm not sure what inspired this, but I just kept working on it til it was something. Dinosaurs in the suburbs, oh my.

Feathers
This highly detailed owl coloring page was created by looking at a stylized owl illustration. I took the feather patterns and applied them to an owl I was drawing. Some would say I'm stealing, and I would say - so what. Our human brains are associative machines, creating what we call our consciousness through the myriad of interactions we have every day. Trying to dissect our creativity is akin to finding the original host of the flew bug, it's just not going to happen. So I say, recognize the situation, and go with it. Good artists copy, great artists steal.

Fish Tank
... work in progress ...
Someone asked me to draw a castle, but I felt the need to add something to such a simple drawing. I thought it looked like the kind of castle you'd see in a fish tank, so I changed the composition to suit.

Deer Surprise
I started this with an image I found of a deer that was posed in an interesting way. I used her to create unusual shapes on the page. I might go on about why I did what in the composition later, but for now I'm tired and going to bed.
... and yes her hind end is a pine cone, totally.

Swamp Fairy
Her/his beetle comrades lift him out of the marsh by grabbing on to his back. I don't know what I was doing with the feet, just experimenting with the forms. It looked to me like this fairy was being formed and stretched into shape by the force of being pulled out of the water.

Listen
Hello silence my old friend. This coloring page is a wild one and should be a lot of fun to color. There's a theme to it, but I'll reveal more about what I'm doing as the days go on.

The Family Cabin
I like drawing architecture freehand. I learn so much making mistakes on how roof lines come together, mixing perspective with building angles. The background is surreal because I thought it clashed nicely with the cabin.

Frog in the hedge
A gardener frog who jealously tends his garden. I'm thinking about making a story out of this one. Melissa wants to color it already.

Cranberries
Searching around Google images, I'll follow one image preview to another until I find something that I like. Tonight it was cranberries. The leaves are stylized cause it was feeling good to do them like that. I'm interested to find out what connection there might be between what is enjoyable for me to draw, and others to color.

Treehouse-4
The final panel to the Treehouse series I've started this year out with. Still needs a bit of work. I'll be cleaning this one up soon. Check back for the scalable PDF.

Treehouse-3
Ah... now I'm seeing it. This one kind of looks like a country scene, with forested hills behind croplands.

Treehouse-1
I've decided to start this year out drawing something surreal. It was entertaining to do the spaghetti-like stylized roots of this tree. Check back for updates everyday as posts will usually show up in the morning as I spell check and release them. These coloring pages are high enough resolution to print, but still contain my sketchy lines. I'll do my best to vectorize some of them as I go.
